PETRODIVE CLEANS UP THE BEACH OF CAPE LOPEZ IN GABON

October 4, 2022

Port-Gentil, September 19, 2020 - Following the citizen days organized by the President Ali Bongo Ondimba, Petrodive chose the World Clean Up Day Saturday, September 19, to make the Gabonese beach of Cape Lopez more usable by eradicating the waste present on the beach.

The mobilization was held while respecting the safety distances to protect against COVID19. In total, our team of 21 volunteers collected 90 50L garbage bags and dumpsters and collection tools were donated to the Central Mayor's Office. The Central Mayor of Port-Gentil, Mr. Gabriel Tchango and Mayors and Deputy Mayors (Mrs. Pauline Assue, Mrs. Ogoula Ozoume, Mr. Mouckany-Koumba) welcomed this eco-citizen action and took part in the movement.

"The goal of this day is of course to highlight the disastrous impact of waste on the environment," explains Imane Benchaib, Country Manager of Petrodive in Gabon.

World Clean-Up Day is a global movement born in Estonia in 2018. By 2019, more than 21 million volunteers had mobilized across 180 countries. Due to the COVID19 pandemic, the mobilization was done in smaller committees and civic movements on the web were born.
